ClubSpecialties, Intl., (CSI) has been busy with consulting work for private clubs, and has added two management contracts in recent months. the Tallahassee, Fla.-based consultant has done ten private-club consulting jobs in the last three months.
The clubs have hired CSI to complete a Strategic Club Assessment on their properties, which includes a three-day club analysis.
The service provides club owners, such as The Manor Golf & Country Club in Alpharetta, Ga., and Winchester Country Club in Meadow Vista, Calif., with a detailed review of each department in the club with detailed recommendations on revenue growth initiatives, costs efficiencies, management and governance structure of the club for a reasonable fee within a 30-day period.
“Many member-owned clubs like this approach because it allows them the expertise of a very talented boutique company to provide them and their [general manager] with a very detailed review of their club, strategy, policy and tactics from an objective outside party that is not trying to manage their club,” said Jim Riscigno, principle for CSI.
The Manor Golf & Country Club hired CSI on a multiyear management agreement on March 1 after their club analysis. The 800-acre club and community was established in 2006. It includes a Tom Watson Championship Golf Course, a state of the art athletic center with indoor and outdoor Junior Olympic swimming pools, 21 outdoor tennis courts and one of the few clubs in Atlanta to boast an indoor tennis facility that includes four additional courts.
Winchester Country Club, one of the premiere California private communities, hired CSI following foreclosure by Wachovia Bank. Based on the assessment and the recommendations, Wachovia retained CSI to manage Winchester Country. The exclusive private golf and residential community, located in the foothills of the Sierra Mountains offers a limited number of custom estate homes and private golf memberships for the championship Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Jr. 18-hole golf course ranked as one of the top courses in Northern California.
Other clients include Cape Fear Country Club located in Wilmington, N.C., the Governors Club in Tallahassee, Fla., and the Bonita Bay Group in Naples, Fla.
The CSI team of industry professionals has consulted with over 200 real estate, resorts, golf courses and private clubs over their careers in the industry, Riscigno said.
“The Strategic Club Assessment provides our clients with a low cost means to judge our skill sets and our creativity with no obligation to retain us after the assessment is presented,” Riscigno said. “It is a no risk low cost way for clients to understand who we are and our level of talent.”
