Bridgeport, W.Va.
Buyers: Textron Financial Corp.
Seller: James LaRosa
Price: $7 million
The semi-private club was put up for auction by owner James LaRosa in August. Textron Financial outbid local business partners Mike Ross, a former state senator, and Ike Morris, who together bid $6.8 million. This is the second time in the past ten years that the LaRosa family, which first opened Pete Dye Golf Club in 1995, has sold the course. Golf Trust of America purchased the club in 1999 for a reported $10 million. The LaRosa family then repurchased the club two years later for $15.8 million. Textron had been in discussions with LaRosa prior to officially acquiring the club at auction. Davis Love Golf Management had been sent in to manage the course.
