Hollinger Golf Club in Timmins, Ontario, Canada, has been sold to a man who as a youth worked as a caddie at the club.
Dr. Tony Kos, now a family physician in Timmins, purchased the club out of receivership for an undisclosed sum.
Kos reportedly plans to implement a five-phase series of improvements at the course that will include development of a new clubhouse. Construction of a new practice facility featuring target greens and bunkers is already underway and is expected to be complete at some point during the 2009 golf season.
Originally established in 1992, Hollinger Golf Club had long been a staple of the Timmins community but saw seasonal memberships decrease after the club went into receivership.
