A new 18-hole, championship golf course will be built in the Irish town of Killaloe as part of a major tourist complex by developer Tinarana Ltd. after the €100 million project won approval from officials in County Clare.
In addition to the golf course, approved plans call for development of a 32-bed hotel, 116 vacation homes and an equestrian center. The developers will also refurbish the existing Tinarana House, a famous Georgian-style mansion that sits on the 270-hectare development site.
The mansion, which will be transformed into a high-end vacation hotel, served as a health care facility prior to its sale in 2006 to developers Joe Hanrahan and John Shee, who now act as directors of Tinarana Ltd.
The developers stated in their application to the council that they believe the development, once completed, will generate approximately €13 million each year for the County Clare economy.
