Israeli property developer Polar International has unveiled plans to develop a new €500 million recreation complex in the western Hungarian city of Sopron, near the country’s border with Austria.
Named Sopron Golden Lake, the project would involve 250,000 square meters of total built-up space on a 90-hectare plot surrounding an artificial lake.
The vast development’s initial phase would include construction of a hotel, spa and casino, as well as shopping and conferen cecenters. The project’s second phase would include construction of a golf course as well as additional hotel and residential components.
Pending approval of permits and the results of a feasibility study, the project could see construction start late in 2009.
