Pacific Links National Golf Club in Beijing — Tiger Woods’ first design in China — officially opened in late April. With this flagship club leading the way, Pacific Links International, a Toronto-based company, has embarked on its plan to rapidly increase luxury, western-style development in the Asian Market. It plans to acquire, renovate and re-open 12 courses in Beijing and Tianjin over the next five years.
“We are building an exclusive program that will allow people to experience high-end golf clubs across the globe,” said Mr. Du, owner & chairman of Pacific Links International, in a news release. “There is no other membership like this in China and Pacific Links National Golf Club, design by Tiger Woods, is an exciting step in this next phase of progress.”
It first launched its reciprocal membership plan in China three years ago and currently has more than 3,500 members. The company currently offers members access to more than 100 owned, affiliate and reciprocal golf clubs in North American, Asia and Australia.
“I am excited to be designing Pacific Links National Golf Club, a flagship course for Pacific Links,” Woods said in a news release. “It’s an incredible opportunity to get to work with people who are fully dedicated to providing such high-quality golf experiences.”
The Pacific Links International portfolio includes courses designed by Pete Dye, Greg Norman, Jack Nicklaus and the likes. It owns and operates Royal Hawaiian Golf Club, Olomana Golf Links, M?kaha Valley Country Club (East), and M?kaha Golf Club (West), currently under renovation by Greg Norman. It also owns Pete Dye Golf Club, Dove Canyon Golf Club, Southern Highlands Golf Club, SouthShore Golf Club and DragonRidge Golf Club.
The company is nearing completion of the 27 Club in Tianjin, China, which is scheduled to open in 2015. It will host the PGA Tour’s Pacific Links China Championship this September.
