KemperSports to manage Mahopac Golf & Beach Club

KemperSports has been named the manager of the Mahopac Golf and Beach Club, located 55 miles north of New York City.

“KemperSports is the right partner to lead our club in to the next generation,” said Vinnie Vesce, president of the Club’s board of directors. “Their experience in managing premier private clubs across the country will be a huge asset to the operations at Mahopac Golf and Beach Club.”

The Northbrook, Ill.-based management company has long been known for its work with developers and public courses, but continues to make inroads with private clubs.

The course dates back to 1893, when architect Tom Bendelow designed the first six-hole routing on the east shore of Lake Mahopac. In 1900, the club moved to its current location in Putnam County and introduced the 18-hole Devereux Emmet-designed course three years later.

The par-70, 6,523-yard golf course prides itself on challenging the low handicap golfers while also remaining playable for beginning golfers. The course also includes a practice facility with grassed tees, chipping practice green and large practice green.

In addition to golf, the facility includes a beach club along Lake Mahopac, along with lake access for boating and fishing.

“Mahopac Golf and Beach Club is widely recognized as one of the top private club in the region,” said KemperSports CEO Steve Skinner. “We look forward to working with membership to enhance their experience and ensure the long-term health of the club.”
