KemperSports is the new owner of the Corte Bella Golf Club in Sun City West, Ariz. The club becomes the 17th private club in the company’s portfolio and the fifth to be owned outright.
Steve Skinner, CEO of KemperSports, said that the club represents opportunity for the company.
“It’s a nice property with a strong loyal membership,” he said. “There’s an opportunity to grow the membership and improve the experience.”
Skinner noted that Arizona is a good growth market, and while there are currently no plans to acquire more clubs in the area, KemperSports would like to expand its presence in the state and the Southwest at large.
“We’re always looking for new opportunities throughout the country with well-located clubs and good growing markets,” he said.
Corte Bella is the second of the company’s courses in Arizona, joining the 36-hole Bear Creek Golf Complex in Chandler. Corte Bella itself is an 18-hole course snuggled within a 1,650-home private gated community. Opened in 2004, the course covers some 7,000 yards and features a 6,500-square-foot clubhouse as well as a locker room, grill, golf shop, and a patio overlooking a 23-bay driving range.
“We’ve always believed that we go where the opportunity is,” Skinner said. “We evaluate each opportunity and sometimes an acquisition makes sense.”
The acquisition of Corte Bella means that the course is now part of KemperCollection, a program that offers preferred rates and member access to award-winning private clubs throughout the company’s portfolio.
“Corte Bella offers a premier golf experience in a prime location with a strong and committed membership,” Skinner said. “We look forward to working with the Corte Bella Country Club Association to take the club to the next level in its member and guest experience.”
