KemperSports acquires Covered Bridge and Champions Pointe golf clubs

KemperSports acquired two Fuzzy Zoeller-designed golf courses on Sept. 9: Covered Bridge and Champions Pointe, both located in Southern Indiana.

Masters and U.S. Open champion Zoeller designed the courses with golf course architect Clyde Johnston. Covered Bridge opened in 1994 and Champions Pointe followed in 2007. Both courses have consistently ranked among the best courses in Indiana for the last six years, and both feature 18-hole par-72 layouts of around 7,000 yards from the back tees.

“Fuzzy created two very special venues, and we are honored to carry on his vision,” said Steve Skinner, CEO of KemperSports.

KemperSports is planning to make capital improvements at Champions Pointe, such as on-course restrooms and asphalt cart paths. The company will implement its TrueService customer training program at both courses and will gather customer data as well. The courses mark the company’s second and third acquisitions this calendar year.

“As a proud native and resident of Southern Indiana, it’s important to me that Covered Bridge and Champions Pointe continue to create memorable experiences on and off the course for years to come,” Zoeller said. “KemperSports is well positioned to build upon the legacy we’ve created and carry out my vision for these courses. The company represents some of the best golf experiences in the country and has more than 40 years of success in managing award-winning facilities.”

Each course is accompanied by a top-shelf practice facility and spacious clubhouse which houses a fully equipped golf shop, sports bar, full-service restaurant and banquet facilities.
