AKR Land Development has begun construction on Grand Kawanua, a multi-billion dollar development project in the city of Manado in North Sulawesi.
The 180-hectare project, which could take an estimated eight years and $1 trillion dollars to complete, will feature an 18-hole golf course, 200 hotel rooms and 1,500 luxury homes to go along with a variety of shopping centers, office compounds and a convention center.
Construction kicked off in May of 2008 after the developers secured an initial investment of $300 billion.
