Each year, Golf Inc. honors a variety of individuals and courses as part of its recognition of excellence within the golf industry. The list has ranged from the top new and renovated clubhouses to the most powerful people in golf.
But at this fall’s Sept. 14-16 Golf Inc. Conference at the La Quinta Resort in La Quinta, Calif., we will introduce a brand-new honor. We will present the inaugural Golf Inc. Lifetime Achievement Award, which will go to one of the most respected golf course architects in the business, Robert Trent Jones Jr.
With more than four decades of golf course design excellence, approximately 250 completed courses and countless accolades for the quality of his work, Jones is eminently qualified to be the recipient of Golf Inc.’s first Lifetime Achievement Award.
From his design debut working with his famous father Robert Trent Jones Sr. at Spyglass Hill to such recent designs as Chambers Bay in Washington and Lübker Golf Resort in Denmark, Jones has created golfing canvases throughout the world.
One of the first American architects to branch out to Europe and Asia, and a steward of the environment before it was fashionable, Jones – who will be honored during the closing conference luncheon on Wednesday, Sept. 16 — is truly a legend in golf course design the world over.
Few individuals have made as many friends earned as much respect in the golf industry as Robert Trent Jones Jr. We hope many of them will make plans to attend the event to pay tribute to this outstanding professional for everything he’s done during his illustrious career to promote the game of golf.
