Sequoia acquires two courses, adds third

Sequoia Golf acquired three premium private and country clubs in Atlanta. President and CEO Joe Guerra announced the deal with Atlanta National Golf Club, Polo Golf & Country Club and White Columns Country Club on Aug. 23, 2013. Additionally, Sequoia Golf and the Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach, Calif. have entered into a 20-year lease.

“We look forward to enhancing the member experience at Atlanta National Golf Club, Polo Golf & Country Club, White Columns Country Club, and Old Ranch Country Club,” Guerra said in a press release. “Through an initial $4.5 million investment in capital resources, we plan to substantially improve the overall theme, feel and exclusivity of these great clubs with an intent focus on membership satisfaction and service.”

Sequoia Golf would not disclose the name of the seller or the price. The acquisition further expands its influence in the Atlanta area, while Old Ranch Country Club is now the third course managed by the company in Southern California. Sequoia Golf has regional operations in Houston, Denver and Newport Beach.

Ranked the No. 23 most powerful person in Golf by Golf Inc. magazine in 2012, Guerra has moved the company from an ownership group towards third-party management since its inception in 2003.
