BCG to manage White Deer Golf Complex

Billy Casper Golf (BCG) — one of the largest owner-operators of golf courses, country clubs and resorts — has been selected by the Lycoming County Commissioners to manage the 45-hole White Deer Golf Complex in Montgomery, Penn.

The company will direct all components of the daily-fee operation that is less than 10 miles south of Williamsport, home of the Little League World Series. Course and property maintenance, sales, marketing and public relations, staffing and training, merchandising, restaurant and banquet activities, special events, golf instruction and financial management are among BCG’s responsibilities.

“We’re eager to help Lycoming County realize White Deer’s potential,” said Peter Hill, Chairman and CEO of BCG.  “New programs and special events fueled by golf’s most powerful operating platform will engage new generations of golfers and cement the course as a ‘must play’ in Central Pennsylvania.”

Utilizing its proprietary “ACE the Guest Experience” and modern marketing programs, BCG will work to enhance White Deer’s culture as a family-first community asset to draw beginners to the game and increase golfers’ frequency of play.

"Billy Casper Golf was the choice to take White Deer Golf Complex to the next level," said Matt McDermott, Director of Administration for Lycoming County. "The company has a stellar track record improving the quality of golf and financial performance of courses across America. Locted near the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, White Deer has three distinctive courses:

- The par-72, 6,400-yard Vintage Course opened in 1965 and was designed by Kenneth J. Polakowski. It is called the “Old Course” by locals, small greens and nearly 70 bunkers emphasize club selection and precise approach shots.

-The par-72, 6,587-yard Challenge Course was designed by Lindsay Ervin in 1990.  Accuracy is key to navigating 11 water hazards and mix of wide-open and tree-lined fairways.

-The par-28, 1,283-yard Executive Course is popular among beginner golfers and those looking for a quick nine-hole round. No tee times are necessary to play a fun mix of short- and medium-length par-3s and a drivable par 4.

There is also an expansive driving range, short-game area, bunker and large putting green, as well as private and group lessons.  There is a fully-stocked pro shop and Mulligan’s Restaurant & Lounge serves pre- and post-round dining overlooking the course. Founded more than 25 years ago in cooperation with the late golf legend Billy Casper, the company is the largest owner-operator of golf courses, country clubs and resorts in the U.S. with more than 150 properties in 29 states. Headquartered in Reston, VA with regional offices across America, Billy Casper Golf specializes in course and property maintenance, staffing and training, clubhouse operations, food-and-beverage, merchandising, golf instruction, marketing and public relations, special events and financial management.
