Troon adds first course in Canada

Newmark Group, a full-service real estate development and construction company based in Canada, has announced that Troon, world’s largest golf course management company, has been selected to manage Sagebrush Golf Club, located in the Nicola Valley outside Vancouver, British Columbia.

Sagebrush becomes Troon’s first managed property in Canada, expanding the company’s global portfolio to include 30 countries.

Set on 400 acres overlooking Nicola Lake, the links-style course opened in 2009.

“We are thrilled to be involved with Sagebrush Golf Club and to expand Troon’s presence into Canada,” said Jim McLaughlin, senior vice president, Troon operations. “This unique property combined with a golf course that is already regarded as one of the best in Canada, provides a tremendous amount of potential. In addition to upcoming enhancements, we are confident that our management practices will contribute positively to the overall experience at Sagebrush.”

Newmark Group purchased Sagebrush on Nov. 1, 2015, and recently named James Cronk, a Canadian golf industry executive, as president of Newmark Golf Group.

“Newmark Group, under the leadership of owner Mark Chandler, believes that Sagebrush is a very special place with tremendous potential, and we are excited about working with Troon to see our vision become a reality,” said James Cronk. “Their expertise in golf course management, development and marketing will be extremely valuable and we know that our guests will benefit from experiencing a Troon managed property.”

Sagebrush will re-open the golf course in the spring of 2016. Numerous other enhancements are planned and will be featured in several phases as the property.

Headquartered in Scottsdale, Ariz., Troon is the world’s largest golf management company, with now more than 250 golf courses in its portfolio. Also specializing in homeowner association management, private residence clubs, estate management and associated hospitality venues, the company oversees operations at Troon Golf, Honours Golf and Troon Privé properties located in 37 states and 30 countries.

Really excited about this... This course looks amazing, and I am excited to see Troon manage a course in Canada. The future is bright from where I sit.
