Resort project includes Nicklaus Signature course

Canadian developer Kevin Fleming and his Nicaragua Developments S.A. company have taken the first step in Fleming's long-range plan to make Nicaragua a major tourism and resort destination.

The Seaside Mariana Spa & Golf Resort in the town of San Rafael del Sur on Nicaragua's central Pacific coast will feature a Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course, two luxury condominium high rises, 16 individual golf course villas and 305 additional individual golf course, ocean view, riverside and equestrian lots as part of the 923-acre private community.

Fleming plans to develop as many as 25 additional residential, resort and tourist attraction developments throughout Nicaragua in the coming years, mostly under the Grupo Mariana brand, named for his Nicaraguan wife, Mariana.

He said that by mid-summer, the Seaside Mariana development had already sold 365 lots and condo units in the preconstruction stage.

The first phase of construction is scheduled to begin within the year, pending completion of Fleming's campaign to attract individual and institutional investor funding for the overall development. The Seaside Mariana project will be managed by KemperSports.
