Troon signs on to run 27-hole facility in Spain

Troon Golf has added a 27-hole course in Spain to its world’s-largest portfolio of more than 200 properties.

La Quinta Golf & Country Club in Marbella, located in Costa del Sol’s popular golf valley, includes three nine-hole layouts designed by Spanish architect Manolo Pinero.

Troon will oversee a major renovation at the 20-year-old property that will begin this year, according to owner Borja Pascual. The changes are designed to allow La Quinta to compete with a number of new courses that have opened in the area.

Scott Evans will take over as director general at the club. Evans has served in similar leadership positions at clubs in Dubai and England and has worked for Troon on a number of European projects.

La Quinta includes a Westin-flagged hotel with spa and kid’s club. There also is a golf academy on site.
