The world’s largest course management firm has added two more high-end properties to its 200-plus course portfolio, one in Morocco and one in England.
Troon Golf has signed to manage the Gary Player Signature design course at the developing Mazagan Resort on the coast of El Jadida, Morocco. The resort, developed by Kerzner International, is currently in the $350-million first phase of development, with a completion date of this fall for the golf course, a 500-room hotel, 12 restaurants, spa, casino, night club and conference center.
The second phase of development, scheduled to begin in 2012, will include another 18-hole course, an equestrian center and two additional five-star hotels that will increase the overall room capacity to over 1,000 rooms.
Troon also announced in mid-February that the company will manage Flaxby Country Club in North Yorkshire, England. The York-based Skelwith Group is currently developing the area’s largest luxury hotel around the 27-hole Flaxby Country Club facility, to include more than 300 rooms, four helipads, three restaurants and a luxury spa complex and conference center.
The club currently features an 18-hole championship course and a 9-hole, par 35 academy course.
Troon currently operates more than 200 courses in 31 U.S. states and 31 separate countries.
