Troon Golf adds two private clubs, bringing portfolio to 186 courses
Troon Golf has taken over management of Shackamaxon Golf & Country Club in New Jersey and Muttontown Golf Club in Long Island, New York.
The two private clubs bring the management giant to 186 18-hole equivalent courses at 151 different locations. Thirty-three of those courses are private clubs.
Troon Golf is the world’s largest golf management company, overseeing operations at properties located in 31 states and 26 countries. After adding 23 courses in 2009, Troon has added six so far in 2010.
“We are pleased to be involved with Shackamaxon Golf & Country Club,” said John Easterbrook, executive vice president of operations at Troon Golf. “The club has always been known for its first-class reputation and we are confident our management practices will contribute positively to the club’s overall experience.”
Muttontown is a a prestigious 45-year-old, member-owned golf & country club located in East Norwich, N.Y.
The club is home to an 18-hole golf course originally designed by course architect Alfred Tull.
“Muttontown Club is truly an exceptional private facility with an outstanding reputation,” said Jim McLaughlin, senior vice president, Privé, Troon Golf. “We are honored to have been selected by them and are confident that our management practices will contribute positively to the experience of the members and guests.
McLaughlin, who used to head golf at Intrawest, joined Troon in 2007.
