Longtime golf industry executive Phil Tralies has been named recipient of the PGA of America’s Ernie Sabayrac Award for lifetime contributions to the golf industry.
The 62-year-old Trailies currently is chairman of Club Car Inc., one of the world’s largest golf car manufacturers. He joined the company in May 2001 as president and CEO and was named to his current post in January.
During his tenure with Club Car, the Philadelphia native has overseen the launch of a new product in the golf market that resulted in significant market share gains, expanded the global presence of the company with sales in Europe and Asia as well as expanding its markets beyond golf.
He previously had spent 25 years as an executive with Textron, whose holdings include E-Z-GO golf cars and the Jacobsen turf equipment brands.
Trailies will be honored at the Jan. 29-31 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando.
