Sale of Greg Norman label will allow product line expansion

In a move aimed at expanding the Greg Norman Collection label into the luxury apparel market internationally, New York-based Tharanco Group has purchased the brand from MacGregor Golf.
Tharanco, which also owns the Bill Blass, Poleci and Joseph A. labels, has created a new company, Tharanco Lifestyles, to manufacture and market the brand. Michael Setola, who had headed GNC under MacGregor, will also direct operations of the new company. The current management and sales teams also will remain in place.
Setola said that the global reach of Tharanco, headed by CEO Haresh Tharani, will allow the GNC brand to expand beyond the golf market to launch other lifestyle apparel products.
It’s the third time that GNC, which has consistently sold well since its 1992 launch, has been sold in as many years.
