Officials of Union County, N.J., have chosen KemperSports to operate a pair of the county’s historic golf facilities as the final step in the county’s turnaround plan for its golf operations. KemperSports will manage the county’s Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth and Ash Brook Golf Course in Scotch Plains.

Galloping Hill was built in 1927 by Willard G. Wilkinson, and subsequently remodeled by Stephen Kay. In addition to the 6,500-yard regulation course, Galloping Hill has a 9-hole executive course, and a $2.3 million driving range and learning center which is due to open this fall.

Ash Brook, built by Alfred H. Tull in 1947, has both a regulation 18-hole course and a 9-hole short course.

KemperSports was selected following a nationwide search by Union County officials who were seeking an operator to upgrade the county’s golf operations and facilities.
