KemperSports has landed its first management deal in the St. Louis market at the private WingHaven Country Club, while Billy Casper Golf has taken on management of the University of South Florida-owned golf operations at The Claw in Tampa, Fla.
WingHaven is a community-oriented private club located in O’Fallon, Mo., less than 40 miles west of downtown St. Louis. The Nicklaus Design course, the only Nicklaus layout in St. Charles County, has hosted a number of local, regional and statewide amateur and professional events, including the Gateway PGA Championship and the Missouri Amaeur Championship. In addition to the 7,230-yard course, the club features three restaurants, two tennis courts, a fitness center and a Junior Olympic-sized pool.
In adding The Claw, Billy Casper Golf has increased its number of managed properties in Florida to eight.
The Claw, designed by William Mitchell and opened in 1968, is owned by the University of South Florida and is home to the university’s men’s and women’s golf teams.
After being operated since its inception by the university’s golf coaches and members of Sun Dome, Inc., which oversees the university’s athletic facilities, The Claw’s management was awarded to Golf Strategies in 2006. Golf Strategies principal Douglas White has since joined Billy Casper Golf as a vice president, leading to the switch to Billy Casper Golf as the course management entity.
