Table Mountain tribe buys course
January 17, 2010
Rating:
The Table Mountain Native American tribe has purchased Brighton Crest Golf & Country Club, located near Millerton Lake in the Fresno, Calif., area.
Tribal members had been negotiating to purchase the club from original developer Ben Ewell, who re-purchased the club in 2007, since 2000. No sale price was disclosed.
The 18-hole Johnny Miller-designed course formerly hosted the Save Mart Shootout celebrity tournament. The new owners hope to attract a similar event following renovations and upgrades of the course and clubhouse which the tribe is planning. The course is currently closed for 30 days to assess maintenance and upgrade needs.
