The lender has taken over ownership of Ford’s Colony Golf Course in Rocky Mount, N.C., from the developer of the property.

C&F Bank officials shut down operation of the course in mid-January, but are expected to hire an outside management company that will reopen the property by late February.

The course is part of a 1,400-acre master-planned residential community developed by Ford’s Colony LLC. The developer had gone into default in 2008 on a loan taken out with another lender to pay for project infrastructure.

Architect for the course was David Johnson Golf Design. The Ford’s Colony developers also had built a similar residential golf community in Williamsburg, Va.
