Augusta-area club sold to investment group

An ownership group that includes the club's current director of golf has purchased the semiprivate Jones Creek Golf Club in Evans, Ga.

Jones Creek Investors LLC paid an undisclosed price for the 18-hole Augusta-area course originally designed by Rees Jones. Mark Hemann, director of golf, is a member of the group. The LLC actually took control of the course from seller Weldon Wyatt in March with the intention of eventually purchasing it.

They acquired a club in need of refurbishing, as course conditions had reportedly been deteriorating prior to the sale.

The semi-private club -- renovated in 2003 --  includes a 2,700-square-foot teaching facility, that offers areas for video swing analysis. It's also one of six TaylorMade fitting facilities in the country.
