South Korea: Nicklaus course part of Gale development

An 18-hole, Jack Nicklaus golf course will be constructed as part of a major development project in South Korea by New York-based developer Gale International.

Located in the Sondgo International Business District (IBD), this 607-hectare, $35 billion development southwest of Seoul will feature 50 million square feet of office space, 30 million square feet of residential space, 10 million square feet of retail space, 10 million square feet of greenspace and 5 million square feet of hotel space.

The Sondgo IBD is expected to become home to some 100,000 residents and employ another 300,000 to 400,000 people. The first phase will include 10,000 high-rise apartments, five office towers, a 1.3 million-square-foot convention center and a 1.1 million-square-foot retail mall. 

New York-based Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates will serve as the development's master-plan architect.

Florida-based real estate company Kitson & Partners, also will also be involved with the project.
