Slovak entrepreneur Mario Hoffman and his development company, Devco, are moving forward with plans for a $600 million, 560-hectare project on Salt Cay, the largest island of Turks & Caicos in the Caribbean.
In addition to a new golf course, the development will include 130 apartments, 75 residential villas, two hotels, two sporting centers and a private port for 80 boats.
The project is moving forward despite reports that many Salt Cay residents are opposed to it. Hoffman disputes those reports, however, and claims that more than 90 percent of the local community supports the development.
