Renovations under way on two Washington courses

Golf course architecture firm Phelps/Atkinson Design is overseeing more than $5 million in total renovations at a pair of county-owned golf courses in Spokane County.
Wadsworth Golf Construction is also involved with both projects.
The larger of the two renovations projects, taking place at Liberty Lake Golf Course, got underway last fall and will cost an estimated $4.5 million. The 50-year-old course is expected to receive improvements to its irrigation system, cart paths, greens, fairways and bunkers prior to reopening in the spring of 2010.
Tee, bunker and regrassing work are the emphasis at 40-year-old Hangman Valley Golf Course, where renovations are expected to cost about $750,000 and the course is expected reopen in spring 2009.
