Ocala Golf Club reopens following redesign
October 29, 2009
Rating:
The 78 year-old Ocala Golf Club in Ocala, Fla., reopened for play on Oct. 21 following a comprehensive renovation directed by golf architect Mike Beebe, with construction by Jacksonville, Fla.-based MacCurrach Golf Construction.
The course was originally designed by E. Ellsworth Giles, opened in 1931 and has been owned by the City of Ocala since 1944.
Work during the renovation was intended to restore and adapt Giles’ original design to today’s standards and technology. Improvements included new greens, tees, bunkers, irrigation, cart paths and selective tree removal.
