PGA Tour player, course designer and development consultant Notah Begay and architect Jeff Brauer are designing a new casino golf course just north of Topeka, Kansas, for the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.

The course, called Firekeeper, will be part of the Prairie Band Casino and Resort.

Initial work on the $8.5 million project began in May, with the course scheduled to open in July 2010.

Begay’s NB3 design and development consulting firm has assisted with a number of Native American golf projects. Brauer has a strong design portfolio, with several Kansas course designs including Colbert Hills in Manhattan, San Creek Station in Newton and Eagle Bend in Lawrence.
