Australia: Construction set to beginon Nullarbor Links

Construction is expected to get underway prior to the end of the year on Nullarbor Links, according to officials from the Eyre Highway Operators Association (EHOA).

An ambitious project lauded as the world's longest golf course by its developers, Nullarbor Links is planned as an 18-hole, par 72 golf course that will span 1,365 kilometers stretching from Kalgoorlie in Western Australia to Ceduna in South Australia, with one hole in each participating town along the Eyre Highway.

The project was initially conceived by the EHOA, a community organization established to raise the profile of businesses along the Eyre Highway.

It moved closer to becoming reality thanks to a recent partnership between the EHOA and AusIndustry, the Australian government's business program delivery division in the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, that resulted in Nullarbor Links receiving $331,000 in grant funding to aid the development.

Officials believe the project could be completed as early as next summer.
