Troon names GolfBoard a preferred partner

Troon, the world’s largest management company, has named GolfBoard a preferred partner. The motorized golf vehicle, conceived by Bally Total Fitness Founder Don Wildman and surfer Laird Hamilton, is a four-wheel drive board that allows users to turn by transferring their body weight, similar to snowboarding or surfing.

After testing out a limited number of the new product at Sewailo Golf Club, The Westin Kierland Golf Club in Arizona and Princeville Makai Golf Club in Hawaii, Troon saw enough positive reception to give its portfolio of more than 250 facilities the option to offer GolfBoards.

“At our test courses, such as the recently introduced 20 board program at the World Golf Village, golfers consistently want to experience the thrill of GolfBoarding,” said Brett Brooks, Troon’s Director of Marketing Communications and Global Business Development. “By encouraging GolfBoards at all Troon properties, we can attract new golfers and energize existing ones by offering a new and exciting way to play golf.”

Available since April 2014, GolfBoard is now offered at more than 120 courses in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. More than 300 additional private, daily-fee and resort courses will soon offer the amenity.

Headquartered in Scottsdale, Ariz., Troon is the world’s largest golf management company, with now more than 250 golf courses in its portfolio.
