Troon, the world’s largest golf management company, has been selected to manage operations at the Rio Mar Country Club, located on the island of Puerto Rico in the Caribbean. Rio Mar Country Club is adjacent to the El Yunque rainforest, which covers an area of 29,000 acres and forms part of the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa.
Offering 36 holes of championship golf, Rio Mar Country Club has of two distinct course designs. The Ocean Course is a design collaboration between Tom and George Fazio, which provides players an unrivalled tour of the naturally breathtaking contours of the island and its signature 16th hole that plays along the waters of the Atlantic. The River Course, which features a more recent Greg Norman design, bears many of “Great White Shark’s” design hallmarks that include an intriguing layout, clever use of natural terrain, and a fair challenge for all levels of golfer.

In addition to managing the golf operations at Rio Mar, Troon will also oversee operations at its tennis facility, which has eleven Har-Trucourts and two Laykold hard courts. The addition of Rio Mar Country Club also expands Troon’s presence on Puerto Rico, which already includes the award-winning Bahia Beach Resort & Golf Club at The St Regis Bahia Beach Resort.

The Ocean Course measures 6,782 yards from the back tees down to 5,450 yards for the ladies to a par of 72. The River Course plays a slightly longer 6,945 yards from the back but a shorter 5,119 yards from the front.
The Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa has 400 spacious rooms and including 40 oversized suites.
