Heritage Interests, LLC, an affiliate of Triumph Golf LLC, has purchased Heritage Golf Links in Tucker, Ga., from Magnolia Hospitality Management for an undisclosed price.
The Houston, Texas-based company has plans to acquire between six and eight courses over the next few years, according to Triumph Principal Billy Sitton.
“We are in acquisition mode,” Sitton told Golf Inc. “We are looking for clubs that fit our model, specifically courses in the Sun Belt that operate 12 months a year.”
Heritage Golf Links is a 27-hole facility that first opened in 1999. This is the fourth property that Triumph has acquired since its formation and the first venture in Georgia. Triumph Golf executives were particularly intrigued by the course’s traditional golf experience, sans homes. It features a clubhouse with a full service restaurant, a bar and an outdoor patio.
In its previous three acquisitions — Cypress Lakes Golf Club in Cypress, Texas; Pebble Creek Country Club in College Station, Texas; and Longwood Golf Club in Houston, Texas — Triumph has reinvested into their clubs dramatically enhancing both the user experience and the clubs’ overall appeal.
It has plans to do the same at Heritage Golf Links, which is already open for play, with a particular focus on the clubhouse and practice facilities. The Teaching Center, which has a complete short game area and a lighted driving range offering access to club fitting and professional instruction, is a point of pride for the new owners. It plans to upgrade the center on player development services.
“It had one of the nicest practice areas I’ve ever seen,” Sitton said. “We have plans for significant renovations and upgrades to the practice facilities.”
Sitton said the newly acquired property fits its model of high-quality semi-private golf courses, which have abundant “opportunities with the right management structure.”
Membership opportunities will continue to be offered to local residents.
Triumph Golf is an owner/operator that invests in the acquisition and operations of private and semi-private golf clubs and resorts. The company was born in response to the KSL Capital purchase of ClubCorp, in December 2006. ClubCorp was the largest, most renowned owner and operator of private clubs in the world at that time. Concurrent with the KSL acquisition, a team of ClubCorp senior executives left ClubCorp and joined together to form Triumph Golf LLC. It now has a portfolio of four courses and plans to acquire several more over the next few years.
