TPC Network launches first Puerto Rican property

The PGA Tour’s Tournament Players Club Network has added a new property, TPC Dorado Beach, located at Dorado Beach Resort in Puerto Rico, debuting this month. It is the first Puerto Rican course in the network and the third international property.

In 1958, Robert Trent Jones, Sr.’s designs, the East and West courses, opened for play at Dorado Beach Resort. The Sugarcane and Pineapple courses were added in 1972.

The recently updated East Course, a par-72 measuring 7,200 yards, will host the 2015 PGA Tour Latinòamerica Tour Championship Dec. 3-6. The Pineapple Course, a par-72 first built in 1972, is merging with the West Course, which is currently closed for renovations. Once renovations are complete, the resort will house a total 54-holes of golf at three 18-hole courses: the East Course, West Course and Sugarcane Course.

“The PGA TOUR is delighted to further the expansion of the TPC Network brand into the Caribbean with the addition of TPC Dorado Beach, located at a world-class family retreat with a rich, storied history,” Charlie Zink said in a news release, PGA TOUR co-chief operating officer. “We look forward to creating memorable experiences for our members and guests for years to come.”

In the last year, the TPC Network has expanded with the additions of TPC Cartagena in Colombia and TPC at Baha Mar in The Bahamas. TPC Dorado Beach is the 34th property in the TPC Network of Clubs. TPC Dorado Beach is part of the TPC Passport program, which offers reciprocal access to all private club members throughout the TPC Network.

There are three relationships a club can have with the TPC Network. Of the 34 properties, 11 are owned/operated by the TPC Network, nine are licensed/operated and 14 are licensed only. TPC Dorado Beach is a licensed property, meaning Dorado Beach Resort will remain as the course operator.
