Sequoia Golf on a roll; takes over management of clubs in Colorado, Virginia and Florida

Sequoia Golf Management has been hired to manage three private clubs in the past month — Fort Collins Country Club in Fort Collins, Co., and Jefferson Lakeside Country Club in Richmond, Va., and Regatta Bay Golf and Country Club in Destin, Fla.

Fort Collins is one of the highest-rated golf courses in Northern Colorado, It is a full-service, family oriented club that offers a tennis program, swim program, juniors program, spa, beach and multiple dining facilities.

Sequoia already managed two properties in the Denver area, and now plans to leverage  its relevant market experience and existing programs.

The club is home of the Hanrahan Golf School, and features an 18-hole golf course, a double driving range, putting green and a practice chipping green complete with sand trap.

Sequoia will work closely with the Club’s Board of Directors to explore new ways to add value to the Fort Collins membership while at the same time maintaining an efficient business model. The Sequoia management team will also assist the club with implementing future capital improvements and renovation projects for the golf course and club facilities.

“What impressed us most with Sequoia Golf is their ability to manage with an owner’s mentality,” said Mark Smith, FCCC board president. “They treat every dollar as though it was their own, which is something we greatly appreciate from our partners.”

Sequoia also recently signed a long-term contract with Jefferson Lakeside Country Club. It had managed the course on a six-month trial, in which time it added 152 new members.
The Board of Directors unanimously voted to retain Sequoia Golf.

The course underwent a $1.5 million renovation in 2011. Sequoia will oversee future course renovations and improvements to the restaurant, pool, tennis and other facilities.

Jefferson Lakeside is the only original Donald Ross designed course in Central Virginia.  Prior to the club’s founding in 1915, the property was a cycling and boating club and later, the grounds were used as Richmond’s first botanical zoo.

Built in 1998, Regatta Bay Golf and Country Club is owned by Legendary, Inc., which also owns The Emerald Grande at HarborWalk Village, the adjacent marina and various other commercial properties that surround the resort. Legendary will work alongside Sequoia Golf to cross promote its numerous hospitality and real estate developments.

Sequoia Golf will position Regatta Bay Golf Club as the premiere golf club choice for both local golfers and those traveling to the Emerald Coast of Northwest Fla.  Sequoia Golf will seek to build the membership at the club as well as drive rounds from visitors throughout the year.
