The Peed family, which acquired Ballyhack Golf Club in Roanoke, Virginia last year, has added Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio to its growing collection of private clubs. The acquisition was made through Hana Golf, a new golf investment company that is managed by Zach Peed. Zach Peed is also President of GolfStatus and was named one of the most influential people in golf by Golf Inc. magazine.
Briggs Ranch joins a network of private destination clubs providing full-service amenities and golf courses that serve the needs of executives and corporate entities for retreats and other events. Ballyhack was acquired through Kula Golf, another Peed investment company. ArborLinks in Nebraska City, Nebraska is also part of the network of private courses. Memberships extend access to all three courses.
“We’re constantly looking for ways to add value to our membership offerings and the experiences our members have at our clubs,” Peed said. “Briggs Ranch is a beautiful course in a great location with premium amenities and phenomenal golf. We’re excited to build on that foundation in ways that further complement our network of pristine private destination courses.”
Developed in 2001, Briggs Ranch Golf Club spans a 260-acre site approximately 20 minutes west of downtown San Antonio. The property includes an 18-acre practice facility, a nationally ranked Tom Fazio-designed course, and a full-service clubhouse. The course features five sets of tees and measures up to 7,247 yards with a rating of 75.7 and slope of 139.
A 15,000-square-foot clubhouse features full-service locker rooms and fitness facilities, a restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining spaces, and venue space for meetings and special events.
The transaction was facilitated by listing broker Keith Cubba, who serves as national director of Colliers Golf Course Advisory Services. The course will be managed by Nebraska-based Landscapes Unlimited, which will also oversee the addition of on-site lodging accommodations (the planning of which is underway).
