Mequon Country Club near Milwaukee sells for $1.5m
Mequon Country Club in Milwaukee, Wisc. has a new owner.
The 27-hole championship golf course and private country club in Ozaukee County, the northern suburban area of Milwaukee, was scooped up by a local investor for $1.5 million.
Some of the 48-year-old course's holes famously wind along the scenic Milwaukee River. The club is also known for its sizable clubhouse and banquet facility, swimming pool and six tennis courts.
The club will likely get a makeover under the new owner.
Mequon followed the steps of other private clubs, falling in the face of the recession and into the hands of the bank in a “deed in lieu of foreclosure” agreement earlier this year. Capmark Financial Group Inc. in Horsham, Pa. was the seller.
Chris Charnas of Links Capital Advisors Inc. and Patrick Gallagher of Siegel-Gallagher Inc. represented the seller. The buyer was not represented.
The brokerage team also sold Meadowbrook Country Club in Mount Pleasant in April for $1.4 million.
The team is currently marketing two other properties in the state, the 36-hole Silver Spring Golf & Banquet Center in Menomonee Falls and the 18-hole Glen Erin Golf Club in Janesville.
