The City of Laredo, Tex. and the Max A. Mandel Municipal Golf Course, designed by architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr., have selected Landscapes Management Company as its operator and management company. Landscapes Management Company, a division of Landscapes Unlimited, will oversee the municipal facility’s day- to-day operations.
The public facility features an 18-hole, par-72 golf course, measuring 6,500 yards from the longest tees. Green fees range from $33.50 to $56, with discounted rates for senior and junior golfers.
"The MAX offers our company a chance to return, albeit in a different capacity, to a course that we built in 2012. We look forward to employing our revenue building strategies as well as providing an excellent golfing experience," said Tom Everett, president of Landscapes Management Company, in a news release.
The Lincoln, Neb.-based company was selected from several proposals in an open bidding process. After discussion with the City Council, the contract was awarded in May with a timeline transition set to have taken effect on June 1, though the public announcement was not made until mid-July
"We are excited to welcome Landscapes Unlimited as the new management company for The MAX, a course that has received numerous industry accolades since opening in 2012," said Horacio De Leon, Jr., assistant city manager, City of Laredo, Texas. "We believe we have a world-class golf course and clubhouse, and with the help of Landscapes Unlimited, we will continue to be one of the best municipal courses in the country. The MAX is the pride of the City of Laredo and we want golfers to come and experience the finest golf on the Rio Grande."
