Cities of Euclid and Fernandina Beach extend Billy Casper contracts

The City of Euclid, Ohio, and the City of Fernandina Beach, Fla. have extended management contracts with Billy Casper Golf for Briardale Greens Golf Course and Fernandina Beach Golf Club, respectively. Both have with the Reston, Va..-based management company since 2010.

Briardale Greens returned profitably in two years through special events including “Demo Days” as instituted by BCG. Installation of a new irrigation control system and satellite boxes, along with new golf carts and maintenance equipment have added to the course’s playability.

Briardale Greens Golf Course is located 20 minutes from downtown Cleveland and one mile from Lake Erie. The 18-hole, par-70, 6,058-yard Pat LaConte-designed layout. First opened in 1977, it features tree-line fairways, nearly 40 bunkers, four sets of tees and large, undulated greens. It also has a practice area including two putting greens and a lighted and heated driving range.

Fernandina Beach Golf Club features 27 holes in three nine-hole layouts. Opened in 1957, the par-35, 3,094-yard North nine is the oldest course on Amelia Island. The par-37, 3,683-yard West nine is home to the signature, 607-yard, par-5 No. 2. The par-36, 3,316-yard South nine was the last to open in 1972.

BCG has worked to restore Fernandina Beach Golf Club’s West Course’s greens to Champion Bermuda grass and to conserve the South Course’s greens. Fernandina Beach Golf Club offers the “Beach Card” to locals for preferred daily rates. It also features a practice area with a driving range and putting green, a dining room and lounge area.

Founded more than 20 years ago in cooperation with the late golf legend Billy Casper, the company is the largest owner-operator of golf courses, country clubs and resorts in the U.S. with 151.5 18-hole equivalent courses in 26 states and Washington D.C.
