British Columbia’s Tobiano Golf Course listed for $5 million; Kernersville golf course sold at auction; Venus Rock Resort in Cyprus breaks ground on first of two courses

British Columbia’s Tobiano Golf Course is up for sale through the Multiple Listing Service for $5.5 million.

The Business Development Bank of Canada seized the course last year from developer Mike Grenier. The Business Development Bank of Canada went to court this year to gain the ability to market the course separately from the overall Tobiano resort, which is located near Kamloops Lake in the Thompson-Okanagan region of British Columbia.

The course and its associated restaurant will remain open and operated by a court-appointed receiver. The Thomas McBroom-designed 18-hole course has been ranked as the sixth best public course in Canada and No. 16 in SCOREGolf’s Top 100 courses in Canada.

Kernersville golf course sold at auction

The Pine Knolls Golf Club in Kernersville, N.C., was sold to an undisclosed buyer for $715,500 at an auction in Winston-Salem, according to an article in The Charlotte Observer.

Private investment firm Racebrook, along with its auction affiliate Sheldon Good & Co., sold Pine Knolls at a time when many golf clubs have been sold or closed.

The 151-acre, 18-hole public course, located between Winston-Salem and Greensboro, garnered interest from a number of investors in states including California, Florida and North Carolina.

The Pine Knolls course is the focal point of the Pine Knolls subdivision, which consists of about 190 homes.

Venus Rock Resort in Cyprus breaks ground on first of two courses

The first of two 18-hole golf courses is under construction at Secret Valley Golf Club, Venus Rock Resort in the Republic of Cyprus.

Golf & Land Design architects Hans-Georg Erhardt and Snorri Vilhjalmsson designed the two courses, the first of which is scheduled for completion in December 2012.

Tony Jacklin, four times Ryder Cup captain and winner of the British Open and US open, is providing his signature for the two Secret Valley golf courses. Golf & Land Design are collaborating with the Jacklin Design Group on other international projects as well.
