Average superintendent salary continues to rise

The average superintendent salary has increased 3.2 percent since 2013, the Golf Course Superintendents Association reports, for an average annual salary of $85,204 in 2015. This continues a trend of increases in every two-year period since the GCSAA began tracking the data in 1993. 

For certified golf course superintendents, those who have achieved the highest level of recognition through education, experience and service, the increase was even higher. Their average salary rose 5.9 percent in the last two years to $103,993. The average age of a superintendent is 46.2 years and they have spent 15.9 years in the profession. 

Superintendents surveyed also expressed an increase in job security since 2013: 66 percent in 2015 versus 62.7 percent two years ago. The average age of a superintendent is 46.2 years and they have spent 15.9 years in the profession. 

Headquartered in Lawrence, Kan., the GCSAA surveys its members for the Compensation and Benefits Report every other year.
