Australian roadside service and insurance giant RACV is moving forward with plans to redevelop Torquay Golf Club into an upscale resort after the company officially assumed ownership in October.
The $80 million renovation project will include construction of a four-story, 67-room resort hotel, redevelopment of the 18-hole golf course, and a new clubhouse that officials expect to complete by 2011.
The project will also include construction of a swimming pool, tennis courts, gym, restaurant and cafe, and a conference center.
Construction will take place in phases, with work on the hotel expected to begin late in 2009. RACV intends to keep 18-holes of golf open throughout the course of construction.
Torquay Golf Club becomes the fifth resort under control of RACV’s club and resort division.
